SPOKANE, Wash. — A legendary Spokane ski shop has put down roots for its second location.
The Alpine Haus has been a staple on the South Hill since the 1960s. It’s now expanded into northwest Spokane.
The new shop is in the old bank building near Northwest Boulevard and TJ Meenach drive.
While being a staple on the South Hill, customers often complained about having to drive so far to get their skis waxes or buy a new snowboard.
Owner Rachel Harding said the pandemic gave the shop the push it needed to be able to expand.
“It was one of the only sports that we could do,” Harding said. “Your skis enable you to be naturally six feet apart. We just saw an absolute explosion in the market and for the interest of people skiing.”
Harding said the market hasn’t stopped booming.
The new shop’s grand opening is Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Freebies will be available for the first 30 families in line.
