COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — It’s the season of giving and The Coeur d’Alene Resort Spa is making sure families in need don’t go without gifts this year.
For the first time ever, a giving tree is in the lobby of The CdA Resort Spa.
The giving campaign benefits the local nonprofit, Safe Passage, which helps survivors of domestic abuse, sexual assault, human trafficking, stalking and child abuse.
The tree is adorned with tags with families’ wishes for holiday presents.
“This is our first time doing a giving tree here at the spa,” said Cally King, Manager of CDA Resort Spa. “So, we have certain tags on the trees that guests can take, and with those tags, they can go purchase those items and bring them back.”
The gift theme is ‘health, wellness and self-care.’
“A lot of times, the people we work with are trying to survive all year, and the last thing that some of them think about is themselves. So, being able to get something off of this tree, going in and getting some sort of self-care service is going to be a really helpful reset from that trauma that they are experienced for a very long time,” said Amanda Krier, Executive Director of Safe Passage.
Krier said these donations make a big difference to the clients at Safe Passage.
“If we can do one thing to help and they don’t have to decide between their rent and Christmas, or their phone bill and Christmas, and we can just be that pillar and that little bit of hope, that’s what we’re most excited about with our program,” she said.
The spa is also offering surprise discounts for spa services in January to those who choose to donate.
You can donate at the spa through December 18.
