SPOKANE, Wash – A Spokane holiday tradition grew several sizes bigger this year, as all seven KXLY radio stations joined together for the 30th anniversary of Christmas Wish.
Christmas Wish started on 92.9 ZZU, taking nominations for families and individuals who might need a little extra help over the holidays.
For years, listeners have tuned in to hear those wishes granted, with elves delivering everything from wrapped presents to the gift of overdue utility bills being paid.
This year, all seven stations in the Morgan Murphy Media group are participating in Christmas Wish, allowing elves to grant even more wishes to local families and people in need.
That means you can help families with donations through 92.9 ZZU, Rock 94 1/2, ESPN 700/105.3 FM, Hot 96.9, Big 99.9 Coyote Country and 92.5 Classic Hits.
Recipients so far include a family where the father was recently diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and a dad who is recovering from a fall from a building, hoping to make the holidays special for his two sons.
With all of the radio stations on board, Christmas Wish estimates it will help more than 350 families this year, with all levels of assistance provided.
529 letters came in, nominating people in our community.
