The Allman Betts Family Revival celebrated the music of the Allman Brothers Band at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on Monday night (December 16). The group – led by Devon Allman and Duane Betts, the sons of Gregg Allman and Dickey Betts – brought out a series of special guests for the big occasion, including Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash, who took part in a trio of fiery performances of the classic Allman Brothers’ jams, “Trouble No More,” “Dreams,” and “Whipping Post.” Robert Randolph also joined in on pedal steel during the rousing take on “Dreams,” which featured an exquisite solo by Slash. The show also included Wet Willie’s Jimmy Hall, mandolinist Sierra Hull, Nashville blues guitar prodigy Grace Bowers, bluegrass singer Lindsay Lou, and Grammy-nominated Americana singer-songwriter Maggie Rose, who sang a moving duet with Allman on “These Days.” Allman said of the tour earlier this year, “It’s a kind of family reunion. We get to see everyone and celebrate one of the best songbooks in rock & roll.” (Rolling Stone)
