SPOKANE, Wash. — The Spokane Pavilion has a new name!
The newly named Gesa Credit Union Pavilion received this name as part of a $2.6 million licensing agreement between the Parks Department and the credit union.
While some people at Riverfront Park were shocked the city would change the name of such an iconic landmark, others were excited about what the city would be able to do with the money that comes from this sponsorship.
Most of the money from this deal will go towards the Parks Department’s community engagement program which helps fund free activities throughout the city.
“What we try to do is really program around what the community wants to do with the latest trades, art, recreation, entertainment. We try to meet the needs of the community where they want it,” said Riverfront Park Director Jonathon Moog.
The Parks Department says this partnership is another way to bring money in to fund these events enjoyed by everyone in Spokane.
