PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. — The Joint Base Lewis-McChord military is preparing for possible severe weather on Wednesday evening.
JBLM said on Wednesday afternoon the 62nd Airlift Wing is planning to evacuate several C-17 Globemaster III aircrafts due to forecasted severe storms in the area.
“Evacuation missions are a precautionary measure taken to avoid serious damage to aircraft and personnel in the event of inclement weather,” said the announcement.
Record-high heat on Wednesday is forecasted to be followed by thunderstorms in the evening, with the most severe producing hail up to the size of quarters.
