SANDPOINT, Idaho — A new aerospace facility broke ground in Sandpoint on Wednesday afternoon.
Timberline Helicopters, a company that specializes in heavy lift and utility helicopters, is expanding its campus with a new $13 million facility.
The expansion will create about 24 new jobs, including 20 Airframe and Powerplant mechanic positions, and was supported by Idaho’s Tax Reimbursement Incentive program.
City officials say this investment is a key part of Sandpoint’s broader effort to diversify its economy and foster a robust aerospace sector. The new jobs are expected to offer competitive wages and stimulate additional employment opportunities in the community.
The groundbreaking comes just days after a new aerospace facility in Spokane was unable to open after $48 million in federal funding was canceled.
Sandpoint Mayor Jeremy Grimm emphasized the importance of supporting innovative projects that create quality jobs.
“As we witness the continued ascent of Sandpoint’s aerospace industry, the City remains committed to supporting initiatives that drive innovation, create employment opportunities and enhance the quality of life for all residents,” he said.
