BOISE, Idaho — In February, Idaho Governor Brad Little signed a bill establishing the Parental Choice Tax Program, and now the Idaho State Tax Commision wants people to know how to they take advantage of it.
The program provides nearly $50 million to state funding to pay for eligible non-public school expenses for K-12 students and disabled students up to 21 years old.
Parents would be able to get a tax credit of up $5,000 per eligible student and up to $7,500 for each disabled student with priority given to lower income families.
Idaho parents are able to apply for the program online starting January 15, 2026.
The commission recommends parents keep their receipts from eligible 2025 purchases, file their 2024 tax return to determine eligibility, and get a Taxpayer Access Point (TAP) account.
