SPOKANE, Wash. — A repeat offender from Sprague was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison Tuesday for possessing more than 9,000 images and videos depicting child sexual abuse, marking his second conviction for similar crimes in just over a decade.
U.S. District Judge Thomas O. Rice sentenced Jonathan Ray Stocker, 44, to 10 years in prison followed by lifetime supervised release. The judge also ordered Stocker to pay $45,000 in restitution to victims.
The investigation began July 1, 2023, when the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department received a tip from a third party who reported seeing child sexual abuse images and videos stored on Stocker’s computer.
Law enforcement executed a search warrant at Stocker’s home on Sept. 1, 2023, seizing several electronic devices. Federal agents discovered more than 9,000 images and 184 videos showing children under age 12 being sexually abused.
This conviction marks Stocker’s second federal offense for child pornography possession. In 2012, he received a 48-month prison sentence for similar charges.
“The United States Attorney’s Office remains committed to holding accountable those who sexually abuse and exploit children,” Acting U.S. Attorney Richard R. Barker said. “Mr. Stocker’s prior conviction did not deter his conduct, and today’s sentence—along with lifetime supervision—is necessary to protect vulnerable members of our Eastern Washington communities.”
Homeland Security Investigations and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department conducted the investigation.
