For those looking to add a new furry friend to their family, tomorrow or Saturday may be the day to do it.
To celebrate National Love Your Pet Day, SCRAPS will hold a special adoption event. Adoption fees for adult dogs will be about half the usual price, which is meant to make it easier to find homes for them.
For the next two days, the adoption fee for these dogs will be $60, down from the normal cost of $125. That fee includes a spay or neuter procedure, one-year rabies vaccination, microchip and one-year dog license.
Spokane County Communications Manager Martha Lou Wheatley-Billeter said puppies and kittens are often in high demand, but it can be trickier to adopt out adult dogs. The shelter hopes the reduced fee will encourage people to consider adopting these older canines.
The event will run from noon to 4 p.m. both days.
