SPOKANE, Wash. — Congresspeople on both sides of the political aisle are giving responses to President Donald Trump’s State of the Union Address on Tuesday evening.
Rep. Michael Baumgartner posted a video on X/Twitter, writing “The State of the Union is strong.”
Baumgartner ended the video by sharing he’s grateful to have attended and to work for the “great people of Eastern Washington.”
Sen. Patty Murray did not attend the State of the Union.
Instead, she posted her own video on social media, saying she’s angry and frustrated over the president’s address, but she’ll continue to fight for a more hopeful future for America.
“It’s possible when we all speak out and stand up for what we believe in,” Murray said. “This is America. And no matter what Trump wants you to believe, the power belongs to the people.”
Sen. Maria Cantwell held her own event earlier in the day to address issues with the Trump administration.
