GRAND CANYON, Ariz. — A Post Falls man died in Grand Canyon National Park last week.
According to the National Park Service, 30-year-old Aaron Benjamin of Post Falls, entered the Colorado River at the top of Hance Rapid on Thursday, Feb. 19.
Park staff received an emergency alert at around 11:15 a.m. that day. Members of the group Benjamin was with pulled him from the water, unresponsive and began CPR.
Park rangers were flown to the location on a helicopter, but could not resuscitate Benjamin.
The National Park Service and the Coconino County Medical Examiner are investigating Benjamin’s death.
