MALIBU, Calif. — Washington State closed out its regular season with a 88-79 loss to Pepperdine.
The Cougars remained with reach for much of the night but were unable to slow Pepperdine’s offensive efficiency down the stretch. WSU kept the deficit manageable through the first half before the Waves created separation in the final minutes.
Wazzu continued to compete on the glass and produced second-half runs, though each push was met with timely baskets from Pepperdine.
The loss moves Washington State to 12-19 overall and 7-10 in West Coast Conference play to finish the regular season. Despite the setback, the Cougs secured a berth in the upcoming WCC Tournament in Las Vegas, where they will look to extend their season.
