SPOKANE, Wash.– The Signal Park apartments and shopping center is expected to be built over the next 18 months and developers said it will include 153 units of housing in total.
It will be just across the street from the South Hill Target.
It’s still working with retailers and restaurants to see which ones will move in here.
People living nearby hope they’ll include local shops.
“Anything for us to get out and do more is always good and if its local businesses that can move in that shopping center, that’s good for the local economy,” Zack Potter said.
Potter comes to the South Hill Sports Complex often, which is right next to where this development is going in.
“The developers said they’ll be tearing one of the bathrooms at the sports complex and replacing them with new ones.
It’s something people that come to the complex often said is much needed, especially as spring and summer approach.
“I think this place is so packed during soccer season so any updates are going to be very helpful for people,” Potter said.
While that development is just beginning, you might see more work happening in the lot just behind it.
Workers will be taking down one of KXLY’s radio tower on Saturday and they are getting some help from the air to do it.
“We’ll have a helicopter on site,” Jordan Wang from Fullwave Tower and Broadcast said, “the tower is a little bit old to take it down with conventional methods, so we’re bringing in a helicopter to take it down piece by piece.”
Wang said the whole process will take about five to six hours.
Crews were climbing the tower today to make sure it’s ready to be taken down.
Meanwhile, the developers for Signal Park said the retail stores and restaurants should be moved in by late 2027 or early 20-8.
