BOISE, Idaho — The Idaho Transportation Department is warning people to look out for scam texts circulating across the state.
ITD says these texts often claim that you have an outstanding fine or vehicle registration is overdue.
The scammer will then request you pay the fines online through a provided link.
ITD says these texts are not connected to any official DMV services. If you receive one of these messages, do not click the link or provide personal or payment information.
Report the message to your phone provider and then delete the text.
“If the link does not end with a dot gov address, it’s a scam,” DMV administrator Lisa McClellan said.
