SPOKANE — Music filled the streets of downtown Spokane this morning as kids from across the area came to perform in the Junior Lilac Parade.
Thousands of people lined Spokane Falls Boulevard this morning to catch the performances from various elementary and middle schools. The parade, which was emceed by Kris Crocker, highlighted the best of Eastern Washington’s young musicians, each vying for the opportunity to perform at next weekend’s Armed Forces Torchlight Parade.
For some onlookers, the parade has been a family affair for generations.
“It’s so awesome to be out here to support Spokane but specifically our grandchildren,” said Pamila Richardson, a parade onlooker. “It really is awesome. My husband was born and raised here. He came here. My grandkids are here. My kids came here.”
Evergreen Middle School and Color Guard took home the sweepstakes award and earned the chance to perform at next weekend’s Torchlight Parade.
