SPOKANE, Wash. — The driver who hit and killed someone in his car in Spokane before driving away from the scene over the weekend has turned himself in.
According to Spokane Police, 63-year-old James G. Bernhardt contact officers and admitted his involvement in the June 20 incident.
SPD said Bernhardt hit someone on North Newport Highway at around 4:15 a.m. He then drove away from the area. The victim died at the scene.
Bernhardt spoke with detectives before being taken into custody.
He was booked into Spokane County Jail for fatal hit-and-run charges.
