PEND OREILLE COUNTY, Wash. — People living in central and southern Pend Oreille County should prepare for possible power outages on Wednesday.
The Pend Oreille County Public Utility District says longer power outages are possible due to a Red Flag Warning issued by the National Weather Service for the area.
PUD says Elevated Fire-Safe Mode will be activated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday in areas from Blueslide south through the Pend Oreille River Valley and the southern part of the county.
During this time, the electric system is working at its highest sensitivity setting and automatic power restoration is disabled if an issue occurs.
Pend Oreille PUD says this is not a Public Safety Power Shutoff and power will not be proactively turned off to customers. People will only lose power if an outage occurs due to an issue like wind, trees, equipment problems, wildlife, or other causes.
Elevated Fire-Safe Mode will stay in place until weather conditions improve.
