A close race is developing at the top of the U.K. singles chart, with Shakira and Burna Boy’s Dai Dai narrowly ahead of Sam Fender and Olivia Dean’s Rein Me In in the latest midweek update.
Billboard noted that only about 600 chart units separate the two songs, leaving the final result open before the official ranking is confirmed. Dai Dai has built enough momentum to threaten the current run of Rein Me In, which has remained strong at No. 1.
A victory would give Shakira her first U.K. chart-topper in 19 years and add another major international result for Burna Boy. It would also interrupt Rein Me In’s effort to extend its stay at the summit and move closer to the record for the longest-running No. 1 single in U.K. chart history.
The final outcome will depend on streaming, downloads, and other chart activity recorded before the weekly cutoff. With such a narrow margin, both songs remain firmly in contention.
