SPOKANE, Wash. — Families visiting Spokane parks will soon have access to cleaner and more modern bathrooms.
The Spokane Parks and Recreation Department has completed its first major bathroom renovation at B.A. Clark Park, marking the beginning of a list of bathroom projects funded by the Together Spokane Initiative. The bathroom at B.A. Clark Park is just one of 85 planned bathroom renovations or replacements over the next two decades.
“I did notice it right away, and it’s nice,” said Candace Cunningham, who was visiting B.A. Clark Park with her two kids. “Especially when you have a little one that’s potty training. You have to get somewhere real quick, and somewhere nice.”
The B.A. Clark Park bathroom underwent a significant transformation, including a fresh coat of paint and updated fixtures. It now has a new stall and sink while maintaining a similar layout to the original design. It also meets the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards, ensuring accessibility for all park visitors.
The Together Spokane Initiative, which voters approved as a 20-year levy, dedicates $240 million specifically to parks in neighborhoods.
Two additional bathroom renovations are currently in progress at Camp Sekani and Southeast Sports Complex.
