COLFAX, Wash. — Whitman County Deputies seized approximately 24 grams of powder fentanyl during a traffic stop in Colfax on September 4, 2026, after discovering the vehicle’s occupants were transporting the drug for distribution.
Deputies stopped the vehicle for equipment violations and learned both occupants had outstanding warrants. They observed items commonly associated with controlled substance use, prompting further investigation. Deputies determined the men were traveling from Spokane to Pullman to deliver fentanyl.
After obtaining a search warrant, deputies found approximately 24 grams of powder fentanyl packaged in multiple quantities.
Michael Strait of Spokane was arrested for driving without a license and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. Jason Treantenou of Spokane was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, obstruction, tampering with physical evidence, and outstanding warrants.
The investigation remains ongoing.
