SPOKANE, Wash. — Chick-fil-A will open its second Spokane location next Thursday on East Mission, just a few blocks from Gonzaga University.
Several neighbors say they are looking forward to having a Chick-fil-A closer to home.
“I feel like that whole stretch is pretty awesome for getting food,” Finn Ramsey said. “Usually we have to drive 15 minutes more for Chick-fil-A so I’m pretty stoked.”
Ramsey, Turner Brunell and Gavin McClister said they expect the new restaurant to be popular. Neighbors also expect the location to draw significant traffic along Ruby Street and Mission Avenue, particularly because of its proximity to Gonzaga’s campus.
“The lines up at the one over there are super long,” Kendall Flanagan said. “Especially since this is a neighborhood, I think it’s going to be a lot busier.”
Residents said added traffic could make it more difficult to leave the neighborhood or get to class. Still, students said they expect to be able to make it to class on time, even if drive-thru lines form.
Some neighbors hope Chick-fil-A will offer a welcome gesture when it opens.
“To promote this business, I think Chick-fil-A should help some students out,” McClister said. “I think that if you live in the neighborhood you should get some free vouchers for some chicken. I’m a big fan of Chick-fil-A sauce.”
We reached out to Spokane police to ask whether officers will provide traffic control when the restaurant opens.
