SPOKANE, Wash. — Chase Harrington delivered a night to remember Tuesday, recording his first WHL hat trick and adding two assists as the Spokane Chiefs overwhelmed the Everett Silvertips, 7–1.
Harrington set the tone early on Spokane’s first power-play opportunity. He reacted first to a loose puck near the crease and buried his fourth goal of the season 3:34 into the opening period.
The Chiefs captain struck again early in the second. After tracking down another loose puck in the offensive zone, Harrington fired it past the Everett goaltender to double Spokane’s advantage.
He completed the hat trick in the final minute of the middle frame. Owen Martin and Tyus Sparks combined to spring Harrington on a breakaway, and the Calgary Flames prospect slid the puck through the goaltender’s legs to send hats onto the ice. The goal was his sixth of the season and capped a dominant five-point performance.
Spokane did not slow down in the third period. Martin scored 1:01 into the frame with Harrington and Harry Mattern collecting assists, then added his second goal just 21 seconds later. Martin now has eight points — four goals and four assists — through five games this season.
Matěj Tománek added another milestone later in the period. The Chiefs import carried the puck through several Everett defenders before snapping a shot into the top corner for his first WHL goal.
Everett broke up Carter Esler’s shutout bid at 9:22 of the third on a goal from Dario Blengino, but Spokane had more offense left. On a late power play, Tománek found Parker Colmer across the slot, and Colmer converted a one-timer for his first career WHL goal.
The Chiefs finished with a season-high seven goals on 28 shots. Spokane went 2-for-5 on the power play and killed five of six Everett chances. Esler stopped 20 shots to earn the win, improving to 6–0 on the season. The Alberta native remains among the WHL leaders in both wins and goals-against average.
Harrington’s line controlled the game throughout the night. Harrington finished with three goals and two assists, while Martin posted two goals and two assists. Sparks added two assists, and all three players finished plus-four.
Tománek finished with a goal and an assist. Colmer scored once, while Mattern, Howell, Sather and Hughes each recorded an assist.
Spokane heads to Seattle on Saturday to face the Thunderbirds before returning home for a two-game series against Portland on October 23 and 24.
