SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. — Ballots are officially heading out to Spokane County voters, with most voters expecting to receive theirs in the mail next week.
County election officials are encouraging voters to take action now to ensure their votes are counted. The easiest way to update or verify your voter registration is online at votewa.gov, or you can visit the Spokane County Elections Office at 1033 W Gardner Avenue.
For people displaced by recent wildfires, there’s an important distinction to understand. People impacted by the Spokane fires can keep their voter registration listed at the home they lost, but they will need to update their mailing address, according to election officials.
Election workers are strongly encouraging voters to return their ballots early rather than wait until the last minute.
“With the slower processing by the postal service, if you have got to put it in the USPS then put it in early. Otherwise, please use our white drop boxes to return your ballot,” said Vicky Dalton, Spokane County Auditor.
If you choose to mail your ballot, officials ask that you submit it more than a week before Election Day. Drop boxes will remain open until 8 p.m. on November 3rd.
