SPOKANE — A new hands-on learning space has opened at Northtown Mall, giving Spokane families a chance to explore electronics and engineering in a fun environment.
ZAP Lab, an interactive STEM build studio, launched recently with a mission to foster curiosity and learning through making. Five local dads run the business and wanted to create a community space where kids and families can work together on building projects.
When customers arrive, they select from monthly rotating project options. The studio’s founders emphasize that the experience goes beyond simple assembly instructions. Jacob Rodriguez, a co-owner, said the studio’s approach focuses on the full learning process: “We want them to tackle a project, whether it is with directions or with help. We want them to feel accomplished with what they are building, and ultimately they get to take that project home.”
The studio is designed for children ages 3 to 17. Adults are also always welcome. Projects range from $5 to $25, with pricing depending on the complexity and materials involved.
ZAP Lab takes both walk ins for sessions and appointments online.
The studio is located at Northtown Mall in Spokane and is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. For more information and to schedule an appointment, visit zaplabfun.com.
