SPOKANE, Wash. — Hundreds of people lined Division Street in Spokane Saturday as part of the nationwide Hands Off! protest.
It was one of more than 1,400 protests across the country that hope to send a message of opposition to President Donald Trump and Elon Musk.
In the Inland Northwest, people demonstrated in Spokane, Sandpoint and Coeur d’Alene.
Some drivers on Division noticed a considerable slowdown in the area near Clark Park where the protesters gathered, holding signs, waving flags and demanding “a stop to the chaos.”
“it looks like there’s a couple thousand people here today,” said Manousos Jacobsen. “The fact that so many people are out here and care is so important. All ages, all demographics.”
Counter protesters were also seen at the event as were officers from the Spokane Police Department.
SPD said there was no immediate threat at the rally and the officers were just there out of caution.
