SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. — Deputies arrested a woman who stole a car from a local casino last week, according to Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.
On October 22, SCSO received a report of an Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) alert for a stolen car spotted near Francher Road and Sharp Avenue in Spokane Valley.
When deputies pulled the car over, the driver, 27-year-old Hannah-Jo Phillips, said she had picked the car up from the Department of Health and Human Services for a friend, but could not remember the friend’s name.
Upon further investigation, SCSO found the car had initially been reported stolen to Coeur d’Alene Tribal Police by the son of the registered owner.
He told SCSO that he had been at the Coeur d’Alene Casino with Phillips on October 19.
He said he had given her the keys for her to “go warm up while he stayed inside the casino.”
When he went to the parking lot, he found the car and Phillips gone and reported the car as stolen.
During a search of the car, deputies found drug paraphernalia and suspected methamphetamine, believed to belong to Phillips.
Phillips was booked into Spokane County Jail for second-degree car theft and drug possession.
