COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — A Coeur d’Alene man was arrested in California on Friday for the murder of his mother.
52-year-old Neil Stratton was located near Los Angeles and was preparing to board a flight to China when he was arrested by U.S Marshals.
In September 2025, Coeur d’Alene police officers found 77-year-old Susan Stratton unconscious near East Skyline Drive with severe injuries from an attack.
She was taken to a hospital and died from her injuries. Her death was ruled a homicide.
Police say Neil Stratton was identified as a suspect early on in the investigation, and while they attempted to locate him, they learned he had left the area following his mother’s attack.
Neil is charged with first-degree murder, burglary, and felony destruction of evidence.
He is awaiting extradition back to Coeur d’Alene.
