SPOKANE, Wash – Sunday is the 50th Bloomsday run in Spokane, but runners, walkers and fans don’t have to wait until Sunday to get into the spirit of one of Spokane’s most beloved traditions.
Bloomies should plan for some serious hydration Saturday, as temperatures by 10 am could reach 70 degrees.
Some young racers got a head start Saturday, with kids third grade and under taking on the Marmot March in Riverfront Park.
Check-in and bib pick-up is underway at the Spokane Convention Center from 9 until 5 Saturday. Last-minute Bloomies can register then as well.
While you’re there, check out the Bloomsday trade show, featuring vendors, food samples and shopping.
If you’re looking to feel the history of the event, head to the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture for the 14 Million Miles: 50 Years of Bloomsday exhibit.
You can also stop by the runners statues at the corner of Post and Spokane Falls Boulevard to snap a picture with the runners wearing t-shirts from past Bloomsdays.
Then, it’s all about getting a good night’s sleep and some protein and carbs before the big race Sunday morning.
Before you lace up, download the Bloomsday Run App. You can track runners, get updates and upload your pictures from the event.
