SANDPOINT, Idaho — A 66-year-old woman died Sunday following a four-vehicle crash on US Highway 95 near milepost 483.3 in Bonner County, according to the Idaho State Police.
The crash happened at approximately 11:21 a.m. on July 21st, near Sandpoint.
A 40-year-old Ponderay man was driving a red Honda Fit northbound on US-95 when he pulled over to allow a grey Toyota Tacoma, driven by a 26-year-old Sandpoint man, to pass. As the Toyota passed the Honda, the two vehicles made contact. The Toyota then crossed the center line into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a white GMC Sierra driven by the 66-year-old woman, who was traveling southbound.
A blue Subaru Forester, also traveling southbound and driven by a 52-year-old woman, then struck the GMC from behind.
The driver of the GMC was pronounced dead at the scene.
Idaho State Police noted the drivers of the Honda, Toyota and Subaru were all wearing seatbelts. The driver of the GMC was not wearing a seatbelt.
Investigators do not suspect alcohol or drugs as factors in the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
