SPOKANE, Wash. — Mayor Lisa Brown and the City of Spokane are welcoming residents to bike, walk, and roll across the newly repaired Maple Street Bridge before cars return Thursday night.
“The Maple Street Bridge carries thousands of Spokanites to work, school, and their homes every day,” Mayor Brown said. “Before it returns to its everyday role, we wanted to create a moment for the community to come together and see the bridge from a new perspective.”
Cyclists and pedestrians can access the bridge from the north at W. Dean Ave. and from the south at W. 2nd Ave. and W. Pacific Ave. The on-ramp at Riverside on the east side will be closed during the event.
The “Bike the Bridge” event is scheduled for Thursday, June 25, from 4–6 p.m. The bridge reopens to vehicle traffic at 8 p.m. that evening.
The bridge underwent a grind and overlay of existing pavement, ADA curb ramp upgrades, and a sidewalk widening. Most work finished in 2025, but the final paving was delayed to June 2026 due to an industry strike
