SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. — Firefighters working on the three major wildfires burning in Spokane County report personal drones are hurting their efforts.
According to Tom Stokesberry with Incident Command, firefighters had 26 incidents of people flying personal drones over the fires. Because of that, they had to ground air support for safety which hurts their efforts.
Firefighters report all three showed minimal growth but are still very much active. Evacuation levels increased in some areas impacted by the Autumn Lane Fire. You can see the latest evacuation map here. There’s also no containment on the Autumn Lane, Old Trails or Fairview fires.
Stokesberry says approximately 920 firefighters are working on the Spokane Area Fires but that number is expected to grow to 2,000 in the coming days.
