DOUGLAS COUNTY — Detectives with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office arrested an 18-year-old Kent resident on Wednesday in connection with the Chelan Hills Fire that started on July 4, 2026, according to law enforcement.
The suspect, Michael Yakimov, was located in Kent, Washington, and arrested without incident. He was transported to Douglas County and booked into the Chelan County Regional Justice Center, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Yakimov faces first-degree manslaughter, first-degree arson, first-degree malicious mischief, and six counts of third-degree assault, according to authorities.
The Sheriff’s Office will provide additional details during a press conference Thursday, September 3, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office in East Wenatchee, Washington.
