COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho – The westbound Northwest Boulevard on-ramp to Interstate 90 will remain closed for approximately two more weeks as the Idaho Transportation Department addresses structural issues with the newly reconstructed ramp.
According to ITD, the ramp was originally scheduled to reopen Monday, but crews identified problems with how the ramp connects to the interstate. Rather than implement a temporary fix that would require future closures, the agency decided to complete the necessary work during the current closure.
“We know extending a closure is frustrating, but we believe it is the best way to keep traffic consistent for drivers and avoid having to close the ramp again in the future,” Project Manager Zach Feist said.
The ramp is now expected to reopen around Oct. 12. Drivers should use the westbound on-ramps at 4th Street, 15th Street or Sherman Avenue, or take U.S. Highway 95 via Appleway Avenue. Additional closures are planned for late October.
The I-90 widening project between State Highway 41 and US-95 is expected to continue through 2029 and will ultimately widen I-90 to four lanes in each direction.
