SPOKANE, Wash. — A man was arrested for assault and unlawful possession of firearms in Spokane Valley early Wednesday morning.
According to Spokane County Sherriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to a residence near the 1200 block of N. Barker Road.
When they arrived, deputies contacted the adult female victim. She explained that the incident began as an argument but escalated to a physical assault.
According to deputies, 45-year-old Alexander Y. Germanovich allegedly punched, strangled, and pointed a gun at the victim’s head and threatened to kill her multiple times.
The victim told deputies that Germanovich drove her to the Barker Road location and dropped her off.
Deputies located Germanovich, and he was arrested after a high-risk traffic stop. Deputies said he admitted to grabbing the victim but denied pointing the gun.
Deputies later obtained a search warrant for his home, where they seized five firearms, including one matching the victim’s description, as well as ammunition and accessories.
According to deputies, Germanovich is a convicted felon and prohibited from legally possessing firearms.

Germanovich was booked into Spokane County Jail on multiple charges, including assault and unlawful possession of a firearm.
The victim refused medical treatment at the scene.
